The West Virginia Bar Foundation hosted its Annual Meeting virtually on June 6, 2024 at 1:00 pm. After a quorum was established and the previous Annual Meeting minutes approved, President Teresa Dumire gave a report on the activities and services of the WV Bar Foundation during the past year.
Activities included Lunch & Laughs with a Legal Legend, honoring Marjorie McDiarmid, Bar Foundation Fellows Dinner, with 17 new inductees, and the 12th Lawyer Leadership Institute, with 11 young lawyers participating. Several grants were distributed during the year, totaling $75,086 for the fiscal year. The Foundation revamped its website during the year and will be implementing a new membership software in the very near future.
Since the first WVBF grant in 2004, there have been 96 separate grants made in a total amount of almost $635,000. In addition, nearly $119,000 has been provided in support of student scholarships and the legal clinics at the WVU College of Law with specific grants designated by the honored judges and lawyers at the twelve Lunch and Laughs With Legal Legends events.
Secretary/Treasurer Judge Patrick Flatley reported on the finances of the WV Bar Foundation. Revenues exceeded budgeted amounts, and the organization received a clean financial audit for the fiscal year 2022-2023.
During the Annual Meeting, three board members were nominated and elected to their second term, as follows: - Judge Patrick Flatley, Warren, RI

- Teresa McCune, Charleston
Two new board members were nominated and elected to a first term, as follows: - Judge Patricia Hill, Morgantown
- Suleiman Oko-ogua, Charleston
Lucien Lewin has rolled off the Board, and we very much appreciate his tireless work and service to the Foundation. Teresa Dumire has assumed the role of the Immediate Past President position. We are very thankful for her continued leadership and guidance to the organization.
