The West Virginia Bar Foundation proudly hosted its 14th Annual Lawyer Leadership Institute last Friday and Saturday at Stonewall Resort, bringing together a dynamic group of newer attorneys from across the state for two days of leadership development, professional growth, and meaningful discussion about the future of the legal profession in West Virginia.
Eight newer lawyers participated in this year’s program, representing public defenders’ offices, plaintiffs’ firms, defense firms, and estate planning practices from communities across West Virginia.
The Institute featured an outstanding lineup of speakers and discussions focused on leadership, professionalism, communication, wellness, and practical skills for young lawyers. WVBF President C. David Morrison opened the conference with remarks about the Foundation, followed by a presentation on effective business communications.
Additional presentations included:
- Rachael Cipoletti, Chief Disciplinary Counsel, on ethical considerations in practicing law and the role of the Office of Disciplinary Counsel;
- Judge Michael J. Aloi of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia on interpersonal leadership and leadership in the profession and community;
- Susan Brewer, Esq. and Allison Williams, Esq. on ethical leadership traits;
