West Virginia Bar Foundation Awards $5,000 Grant to Support SANE Program in Mercer County
The West Virginia Bar Foundation Board of Directors has approved a $5,000 grant to Child Protect of Mercer County, Inc. to support its Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) program.
Child Protect is a vital community-based organization serving child victims of abuse and neglect, their protective caregivers, and all victims of sexual assault throughout Mercer County, West Virginia. Its comprehensive services play a critical role in promoting safety, healing, and justice for vulnerable children and families.
The SANE program provides specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners who respond to local hospital emergency departments whenever a forensic sexual assault medical examination is needed. These trained professionals ensure that victims receive trauma-informed medical care, proper evidence collection, and compassionate support during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
The Bar Foundation is proud to invest in Child Protect’s mission and to help strengthen access to high-quality forensic nursing services that support survivors and advance justice within our communities.
